Pendix eDrive Conversion Kit

£1,699.00

Motors above 250W

Please note a motor output exceeding 250w and speed assistance exceeding 15.5mph means it cannot be used on UK public roads without first obtaining type approval, insurance, tax, displaying a number plate and undergoing an MOT.

In the UK, only converison kits that comply with EAPC Regulations can be used on UK public roads without tax, insurance or registration. A conversion kit above 250W can only be used off-road on private land.

You can find out more about EAPC Regulations here: https://www.gov.uk/electric-bike-rules.

For the avoidance of doubt, you will be responsible for obtaining such type approval, insurance, tax, registration and MOT.

Please read before ordering

Once a kit has been fitted, a refund can't be processed as the item has been used.

Please contact us before ordering to make sure the kit will work on your bike.

Cyclescheme Vouchers

Cycle to work Scheme

The Cycle to Work Scheme is a Government-backed initiative to encourage people to cycle to their place of work, and consequently reduce environmental pollution. It's also a way for you to save money on the cost of your cycle and spread the cost over a number of months, through your pay packet.

How do I get a conversion kit through Cycle to Work?

If they haven't already, your employer needs to register with one of the Cycle to Work Schemes in order to offer this benefit to their employees. Once they are signed up with a scheme, the employee needs to find a cycle retailer who is also registered with that scheme.

Electric Bike Conversions is registered with four of these schemes - Bike2Work, Cycle Scheme, Green Commute Initiative and CyclePlus. You'll see our name listed on each of these schemes such as Earth Cycles or Bike Bros. These are other names we trade under, but we are the same company.

The paperwork required differs for each scheme and should be available from your employer or from the links below for each scheme:

Cycle Plus

Once the necessary paperwork is completed you will usually be issued with a certificate by your employer or Cycle to Work Scheme that you can use to purchase the kit from us. Your employer pays for the conversion kit via the scheme and the scheme then pays us for the purchase once you have collected the kit and provided us with your certificate.

If the kit is being delivered or installed by us, we can receive the certificate digitally. We'll also sometimes ask for proof of ID, depending on the scheme. The cost of the bike is then deducted from your salary over a period of time, but as you don't pay tax or NI on the income that's deducted, you make a saving on what you would pay if you purchased outright. This saving will vary depending on which tax band you fall into!

Due to the cost of running the Cycle To Work Schemes we have to add a 10% fee on top of the kit price, otherwise we cannot afford to be apart of the scheme. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Description

The Pendix crank motor system is the best electric conversion we've seen. It fits almost any bike, requires minimal cabling which results in a neat installation and your existing gearing and brakes are unaffected. The levels of power that the 250w motor and 48v lithium ion battery produce is quite incredible and given that it's made in Germany the quality is fantastic too!

The new eDrive is an improved motor powerhouse of the new generation. With 65 Nm torque the new motor is stronger but also smarter. In order to achieve these innovations, the mechanics and firmware in the motor have been significantly enhanced. The Pendix engineers have succeeded in increasing the proportion of active material in the electric machine by sophisticated adaptation of the stator design, thus increasing the maximum torque. The Pendix.bike PRO app completes the smart Pendix system.

How it works

The Pendix system is a torque based electric kit. This means that the motor will sense when you’re putting more effort into your cycling and it will then automatically increase the power to give you more assistance. As you reduce your cycling effort the motor will automatically reduce the power to conserve the battery. Because the system is automatic you don’t need any controls on the handlebar – all you need to do is pedal and the electric motor does the rest for you.

Pedal Assistance Modes

Eco Mode: Low level of assistance. Ideal for long, flat stretches or when you want assistance on a long ride
Smart Mode:
Medium level of assistance. This is the best mode to be in for normal cycling activities. The noticeable support and acceleration is like having a good wind behind you
Sport Mode:
High level of assistance. Ideal for hills, mountains, steep gradients, loose or irregular surface, moderate to high wind against you.

Quiet. Quieter. The Pendix mid engine

Don't be fooled by the understated nature of our power pack. The entire construction reflects the development competence of our engineers. The engine is barely 3 cm deep and has a diameter of less than 30 cm. All the smart technology is packed into this space and protected from external environmental impacts by the metal casing. The Pendix eDrive does not require a gears at all, so there are no mechanical wear parts. Where there is no wear and tear, there is no maintenance, so you get a motor that is maintenance-free. The gearless design also has two other advantages. Firstly, it is absolutely noiseless. On the other hand, you hardly feel any pedalling resistance when it is switched off. So you can decide for yourself when you need assistance and continue to use your bike as a bicycle.
